Keep Kids Safe This Summer with Life Jackets
Finally. It’s here.
After warm ups, cold spells and a challenging school year, summer is upon us. Many of us will pack our backpacks, fill up the car or board a plane, and travel to our favorite spot on the water for some well-deserved relaxation.
As you plan for your next getaway, consider adding something to your list: a life jacket. Granted, it may not always be an option to pack one. But it should not be optional to be wear one on the water. Ever.
The National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) wants everyone to have fun during this vacation season while staying safe. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, approximately 88% of drowning victims were not wearing a life jacket. Wearing a life jacket saves lives. It’s that simple.
There are two simple things you can do to help spread the word while having fun at the same time. Just think “Show and tell.”
Show us how much fun you’re having while wearing a life jacket. Our “Safe Summer” boating stories give you the chance to tell personal stories about how much your favorite spot on water means to you and your family. Plus, the best story wins a prize pack, including a free life jacket.
Tell your friends wearing a life jacket is important. The “Safe Summer” pledge allows boaters to share their dedication to boat safety and wear a life jacket each and every time they are on the water.
We’ve waited a long time for summer to arrive. Let’s make those memories the best ever. Be smart. Be safe. Wear a life jacket, and tell your friends and family to do the same.
