Sheraton Society Hill
I’ve asked the locals, searched the internet and scoured review sites for the best kid friendly hotels in Philadelphia… so you don’t have to. You can just check here. When you find one like, you can book it right here, too. Easy, huh?
Each of these is on the Victorian Trolley Tour, some stopping right in front of your hotel… pay for a 24- or 48-hour pass and get on/off at will. You can avoid dealing with parking and instead enjoy a really fun way to get around the city.
Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia is a great home base with great views. One block from Reading Terminal Market (full of eateries) and centrally located. Looks totally upscale, without the huge pricetag.
Embassy Suites by Logan Square was once a luxury apartment building. Great family friendly amenities include kitchenettes, separate sleeping rooms, and free hot/cold breakfast buffet. Nearby attractions include Logan Square, the Franklin Institute… or everything if you take the trolley tour.
Four Seasons Philadelphia This upscale hotel offers young guests a red wagon of toys to choose from. Rooms have child-size bathrobes and milk & cookies are on the room service menu. They are very popular with families and are within walking distance to the Please Touch Museum and the Franklin Institute of Science Museum.
Holiday Inn Philadelphia – Historic District is in a very central location (2 blocks from the visitor center) and very kid friendly. Do keep an eye out for panhandlers (beggars), as in all areas of Philly, they can get a bit aggressive. The hotel offers kids meal tickets = kids eat free. The rooftop deck and are are a nice bonus.
Marriott Philadelphia is near the Liberty Bell, Independence National Historic Park and the Besty Ross House. Great central location with an accomodating staff.
Omni Hotel at Independence Park is RIGHT on Independence National Park with great views overlooking the Park.
Residence Inn City Center is an ideal home base for families. With full kitchens in the room and multiple bedroom options this place is totally set up for families. Enjoy the Mother’s-Day-brunch-worthy complimentary breakfast buffet, as well as the weekday evening free dinner (happy hour with kid-friendly food) and you’ll save a bundle on food. Great central location, and pet-friendly too.
Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia is a little too upscale for some, but is very friendly to families. The beautiful historic bank building is a great central location. Upgrading to Club Level gets you access to food from dawn till 10pm… very handy if you have hungry kids.
Sheraton Society Hill is reasonably priced and offers great river views. Near Independence National Park and cruises. Indoor kids pool is a major plus. Near the hustle and bustle but on a quiet tree-lined cobblestone street.

Thank you very much for the information on family safe hotels in Philli. I am planning a trip for September time but have heard a few horror story’s, I work in the hotel business myself and you get to know how easy rumors start. anyway I will stop boring you. thanks for the info, I will be looking to book at one of these hotels.
Fantastic! Please let us know which hotel you chose and what you thought of it!
I was lucky to babysit for a couple at the AKA hotel as I am a nanny It was furnished sparingly with a little room off kitchen for kids to sleep. There was alot of room in the foyer for extra beds, cribs and cots. Couch was great for a sleeper bed also. Bathroom was sizable but mirrors were too high for kids to brush teeth. Kitchen was not eat in, but very stocked & full size fridge. Call the hotel concierge for availability of babysitters in advance of arrival is always helpful. Find out which parking lot was used within the hotel employees and guests. There was no restaurant in the hotel had to go outside to AKA Kitchen next door. Exclusively limited entry from lobby to rooms, great security, very accomodating, near indoor shopping mall great for specialty shopping. Very quiet inside and out.
Stark white marble rooms. Great sense of privacy; handicap friendly.
