The Big Apple Circus Storms Manhattan

Ladies and Gentlemen, Children of All Ages!!!!   Welcome to the Big Apple Circus!!

This is the 31st year for this wonderful circus and this edition, and is entitled Dance On.

First of all, it is held in a traditional circus tent with a capacity of 1600. No seat is farther than 50 feet from the stage, so every seat is an outstanding one.

The show opens with a ringmaster and of course their signature clown “Grandma” with his dancing sidekick, Rob Torres. This year’s company features circus acts from seven countries.

The Hebi Wugio Acrobatic troupe does a terrific monocycle act  (a unicycle has a seat),  these monocycles are like standing on a wheel with pedals.  They follow it with a stunning lasso-twirling act.

The Kenyan Boys shimmy up a pole as though there were no gravity and strength were no object.

Russian born Regina Dobrivitskaya, now a permanent member of the Big Apple Circus, performs her solo trapeze act high above the ring.

Andrey Mantchev, who hails from Bulgaria, wows the audience with his acrobatic hand balancing.

The X Bud Roses Troupe takes our breath away showing us their mastery of Mongolian Contortion .

Ethiopian born, Girma Tshehai is a juggler like I have never seen before.  He incorporates a multi- sided plexiglass surface to bounce his juggling balls to and from every direction.

Of course what would the circus be without dogs and horses? Jenny Vidbel brings the show to a rousing close with her trained dogs followed by her trained white stallions, so beautiful and poetic.

This may be the greatest circus in America.  If you love circus—go see the Big Apple Circus!!.
