Where is Hope Valley you ask?  That’s the point.  This is a lesser-known part of the California Sierra Mountains located South of Lake Tahoe; it’s one of Amie’s all-time favorite alpine destinations with dramatic peaks, granite lakes, and wildflowers galore. Kirkwood (formerly, Kirk, Kirkwood’s, and Roundtop) is a census-designated place in Alpine County, California, United States. The population was 96 at the 2000 census. The main attractions are the Kirkwood Mountain Resorts. The town is accessible by State Route 88. It is within the Eldorado National Forest.  Eldorado National Forest is a U.S. National Forest located in the central Sierra Nevada mountain range, in eastern California, with a small portion extending into Nevada.
