One of our favorite Christmas holiday events is ICE! at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, TN.
This year the theme features Dreamworks Merry Madagascar characters and displays the scenes when Alex the Lion and his friends help Santa and save Christmas. These displays are completely made out of colorful ice sculptures and are amazing! My son loved the ice slide that’s over 20 feet long!
We saw the Peanuts version of the ICE! event in 2009 and were blown away by the detail and how these 2D characters come alive in 3D ice sculptures. I can’t wait to see our favorite Madagascar characters.
It’s 9 degrees in there, so even though they supply parkas with admission, bring mittens and/or a hat.
It’s a great place to get your Christmas card picture taken; there’s a large wreath with Merry Christmas written on it, along with several places throughout the exhibit to pose with your favorite character depicted in ice. There is also a stunning manger scene carved completely out of clear ice that is gorgeous and elegant.
While introducing the Peanuts display, the author’s son, Craig Shulz said, “Disney may be the ‘Happiest Place on Earth’, but tonight, Nashville is the Coolest Place on Earth!” I believe that’s still true. This is one event that the kids will talk about for years!
It is looking very beautiful. As per your description I think the place is really cool and entertaining. The sculpture looks quite unique and the cartoon character is so beautiful. It indeed sums up to be a very good place to be at with your friends and family on a vacation.
Do you offer anything special to let someone be recognized for their birthday?
Please reply as we will be coming soon.
