If you are headed to London for your family vacation, there’s more to do than visit Buckingham Palace, although that’s a good one and first in our list. Here are a few more fun family activities that you must try:
Buckingham Palace – Kids are so good at funny faces, and this is one place they can really show their stuff… trying to get a reaction from the stoic palace guards. Plus what little prince or princess wouldn’t like to see a real castle, Throne Room and all?!
Sea Life London Aquarium – We have a Sea Life Aquarium here in Minnesota at the Mall of America that is just fantastic!! This group does a great job with making the aquariums interactive, educational and super fun. In fact, the London Aquarium is like a mini-SeaWorld with penguins, stingray touch pool, and of course, lots of sharks!
London Eye – This huge, scratch that, Ginormous ferris wheel give you a breathtaking view of the entire city, and is conveniently located on the Thames river near the Sea Life Aquarium and Tower of London.
Big Ben – For all the Cars 2 fans out there, seeing “Big Bentley” in “person” is a sight to behold. For us, it’s the sole reason our son wants to go there. Although you cannot tour Big Ben, you can tour the Houses of Parliament where it resides, or just get a good look for free from the street.
Tower of London – The history of the Tower of London with its ghost stories and tales of torture may or may not be the driving reason to visit, but for the squeamish, there is still the viewing of the crown jewels housed here. I’d take down any ghost to be surrounded by beautiful jewelry.
